Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

When you create an account we collect:

• Email address — used for authentication and transactional emails (e.g., password reset).
• Display name & avatar — shown on your public profile.
• Lists and tags — the movies and TV shows you save.
• Region preference — used to show streaming availability for your country.

We also collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and debugging purposes. Logs are retained for up to 30 days.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To operate and improve the Reelist service.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To send transactional emails you request (password resets, etc.).
• To resolve bugs and investigate abuse.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not send marketing emails.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted on infrastructure in the EU / US depending on your region. We use HTTPS for all data in transit and rely on Supabase's row-level security to ensure users can only access their own private data.

No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use Reelist at your own risk.

4. Third-Party Services

Reelist uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase — database and authentication.
• TMDB & OMDB — movie metadata. Your IP address may be included in requests to these APIs.
• Cloudflare Turnstile — CAPTCHA used on sign-up and sign-in to prevent abuse. Subject to Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Vercel — hosting and edge network.

5. Reelist Is a Social Platform

Reelist is designed for movie lovers to share what they're watching, discover titles through friends, and grow their taste alongside a community. To make that possible, profiles and lists are public by default — anyone can view your display name, avatar, and saved lists without needing an account.

You can switch your profile to private at any time in your settings. A private profile hides your lists from other users and removes you from discovery features. Keep in mind: private profiles can't be found by people with similar taste, can't be shared publicly, and won't appear in any browse or recommendation surfaces. If connecting with other film fans and expanding your watchlist through the community matters to you, staying public is the way to go.

Regardless of your visibility setting, your email address is never shown publicly.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

Reelist stores an authentication session cookie when you sign in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

7. Your Rights

You can:

• Update your display name, avatar, and region from your settings page at any time.
• Request a copy of your data or deletion of your account by emailing us. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, rectification, erasure, and data portability.

8. Children

Reelist is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will note the "last updated" date at the top of the page. Continued use of Reelist after changes means you accept the updated policy.
